FAQs

How does ORI protect me against viruses and bacteria?
For your reassurance, ORI fabrics offer a double guarantee of hygiene from the factory to your home:
On the one hand, the Safe Front© component protects against viruses and bacteria as standard, effectively reducing their activity. On the other hand, the Aquaclean component limits the penetration of viruses and bacteria into the fabric.
The combined formula of aquaclean® and Safe Front© has been shown to be fully effective after multiple washes* and years of use (*10 washing machine cycles at 30ºC have been tested and proven to be effective).

What is the difference between aquaclean® and the various liquid repellents on the market, and what are the advantages?
Liquid repellents are effective while the stain is on the surface because they block the entry of liquids for a few minutes. Once the stain has penetrated the fabric, they are no longer effective because it is difficult to clean the fabric completely due to the dirt that is already embedded in the fabric. This is a clear disadvantage when it comes to carelessness and forgotten stains.
In addition to acting as a liquid repellent, aquaclean® technology also acts as a cleaning facilitator. It thus allows stains to pass from the fabric to the water more easily, simplifying the cleaning process and facilitating stain removal.

Does ORI contain any PFCs?
No. Aquaclean does not contain PFCs.
PFCs (Fluorocarbons | Perfluorocarbons) are artificial substances that have been used in the textile industry due to their effectiveness in repelling water, oil and dirt in general.
The production, cleaning and disposal processes at the end of their useful life make these compounds a threat to people, as these substances can accumulate in living tissues and are potentially carcinogenic. They also represent a danger to the environment, because they are not biodegradable and have an extremely long life.
Due to all these drawbacks, the European Commission is urgently drafting a Proposal to reduce the use of these compounds and to list them as Hazardous substances in order to avoid their use.
From ORI, we think that it is our responsibility towards the legacy we will leave to future generations to avoid this type of substances, and we recommend you not to come into contact with PFC’s for your health and the health of your family and friends.

What types of stains can be cleaned with aquaclean®?
Nowadays, no household stain has been able to resist us. Sauces, shoe polish, hot and cold liquids, carbonated beverages, cakes… Aquaclean has passed laboratory tests remarkably well, even against extreme stains such as permanent markers. Although in these extreme cases it is sometimes necessary to use a drop of soap diluted in water or to rub the stain with a bar of hand soap and then remove it with water.

Is my sofa protected with Safe Front©?

How long does it take for viruses and bacteria to disappear from my sofa?
Bacteria reproduce constantly, while viruses, being inert beings, are simply deposited on it and can be transferred and activated by contact. Safe Front© acts permanently on them in two ways: On bacteria It limits their ability to reproduce and reduces their population. Our ISO 20743:2013 8.1 certification was obtained by demonstrating a 99.9% reduction of the bacterial population in our tissues after 24 hours.
In viruses it acts on the lipid barrier and in contact with water it facilitates its solubility. Our ISO 18184:2019 certification was obtained demonstrating a reduction of more than 91% in the virus population after 2 hours of continuous contact with viruses.

How can I remove any kind of stain from the fabric of my sofa?
It is very common for the sofa to support stains of all kinds, and even more so with children and pets at home. To put your mind at ease, we present you our GALLERY OF STAINS, a space with cleaning demonstration videos with different types of stains. From wine to ink, blood, milk or soft drinks, these videos will help you deal with any kind of occasional everyday stain, as long as your sofa is equipped with the innovative aquaclean® technology.

Are recycled upholstery fabrics of the same quality as conventional fabrics?
Yes, recycled fabrics offer a similar quality to conventional fabrics due to their manufacture and high quality materials in the recycling process. They also offer additional advantages, such as a smaller environmental footprint and greater durability.
In short, they can be of high quality and are a sustainable and durable option.

What are the advantages of recycled fabrics?
Recycled fabrics are made from materials that help reduce the consumption of natural resources and the generation of waste, thus helping to preserve the environment.
The production of recycled materials requires less energy and emits less greenhouse gases compared to the production of new materials, thus helping to mitigate climate change.
Despite being recycled, sheers have durability and strength. This means you won’t have to replace them as often, which in turn reduces the amount of waste generated.
In short, good quality recycled sheers offer a combination of sustainability, durability, health and style.

How are recycled sheers manufactured and what material are they made of?
Recycled polyester is obtained from recycled polyester fibers, which helps to reduce the environmental impact in their manufacture.
The manufacturing process of recycled sheers involves the following steps:
- Material collection
- Mechanical recycling
- Transformation of fibers into yarn
- Weaving process
It is important to note that the manufacturing process of recycled sheers contributes to the reuse of existing materials, preventing them from accumulating in landfills and reducing environmental impact.

What certifications or sustainability standards do recycled upholstery fabrics meet?
Global Recycled Standard (GRS): This standard certifies that products are made from recycled materials and verifies compliance with environmental and social criteria throughout the supply chain.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100: While this certification does not focus exclusively on sustainability, it ensures that fabrics are free of harmful substances and meet certain health and safety standards.
PFC FREE: A “PFC free” certificate indicates that the recycled upholstery fabric was manufactured without the use of these chemicals. The “PFC free” certificate is a way to guarantee a more sustainable and safer option.
Safe Front©: A textile protector for microbial spoilage control. This prevents the deposition of microorganisms on the surface of the materials and, consequently, inhibits or prevents the appearance of bad odors.
aquaclean® technology: Aquaclean technology is a protection system for fabrics that allows quick and easy cleaning of stains, especially liquid stains, without the use of aggressive chemical products.
UNE-EN ISO 1021 1-2: guarantees fire safety for fabrics and other textile products. By complying with these standards, manufacturers can demonstrate that their products meet the fire safety requirements established in many countries.

What are the advantages of recycled upholstery fabrics in terms of sustainability?
Reduction of textile waste that ends up in landfills or incinerated.
- Conservation of resources by not extracting or manufacturing new materials for the fabrics’ manufacture
- Reduced environmental impact because less energy is required to manufacture them.
- Promotion of the circular economy by products that are recycled and reused instead of being discarded
- Raising awareness of sustainability in the textile industry and encouraging other manufacturers to adopt more sustainable practices.

How can I care for and clean upholstery fabrics?
All fabrics feature the aquaclean® technology and Safe Front© seals, indicating that they have been treated with technologies designed to facilitate cleaning and protect against stains.
All fabrics also feature textile care symbols indicating how to clean and care for the fabric. To maintain the quality and durability of the fabric, we recommend following these care instructions:
- Wash at 30°C maximum with a mild detergent.
- Do not wring or spin dry.
- Do not iron.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Do not bleach.
- Dry cleaning recommended
By following these recommendations, you will be able to keep your fabric in optimal conditions for a longer period of time.
